After a little bit of looking around on the good ole’ Internet I decided to try Paws-itively Clean Self-Serve Dog Wash. During my search I was looking for someone near me, with raised tubs, reasonable prices, a professional grooming blow dryer, and that provided shampoo and conditioner. Paws-itively Clean checked all those boxes.
It’s a cute little shop on 20th and Youngfield St. in the Applewood shopping center in Wheat Ridge. It’s owned by a father and his daughter, the dad appears to run the day-to-day stuff and his daughter does the professional grooming if you’re not lookin’ to do the self service wash
The interior was nothing fancy cosmetically, but it had what we needed. The tubs are separated into little cubbies or doorless rooms, if you will. I appreciated this deeply because I was concerned how Laverne would do with seeing other dogs while she was getting bathed. I was mentally prepared for her to whine (quite loudly I might add) the entire time we where there but since we where in our own space and she couldn’t see the other dogs she handled the experience like a champ.
The raised tub was important to me because it makes life so much easier having the dogs at your level. However there was an awkward little ledge in front of the tub that I had to lean over and I found myself standing like this quite often… I don't know why this awkward position made it more comfortable to lean over the tub, but it did. Although really, the ledge wasn’t a big deal.
When we left the dogs where soft, clean, dry, poofy and didn’t smell anymore (which says a lot because Laverne smelled like legit ass pre bath) not to mention their fresh scent lasted a few days after and they’ve still managed to avoid getting so stinky again. To sum up my feelings I loved coming here because it was cheaper than getting them professionally groomed but they also left cleaner than when I bathe them at home, not to mention I always love supporting small businesses no less a father daughter duo.
