Can you ever tell the weather is changing? Not from your psychic powers but rather maybe your body feels stiff or achy.

Dogs can be the same way. Particularly if they have arthritis or hip dysplasia or any other joint or bone issue. And now it’s fall, which means tis’ the season for aching bodies.
Laverne has got an issue with the joints in her back. I initially thought her hips were what was hurting her because she would gimp on her back legs at night on occasion and she would sometimes be weird about people touching them. But when we brought her to Four Paws, our vet, she said the issue is actually in her back which can then make her legs get wonky by default. So she recommended we give glucosamine a go, and I’m so glad we did.
It’s only been a couple weeks and I’ve noticed a big difference. She hasn’t gimped or seemed stiff since we started giving it to her, she even seems like she’s been extra rambunctious lately. The doc said it would be a pretty quick response, but I wasn’t expecting such an easy fix.
The doc also mentioned since it is such immediate relief that it can also be an immediate crash if a day is forgotten. Once they get used to being pain free if a day is missed the pain comes right back, but this time they aren’t used to it and in some cases they won’t even walk from the pain. As heart wrenching as it is to see your dog like that, don’t panic. Just give them their pill as soon as you remember and they should be right as rain again.
More good news about glucosamine is you don’t need a prescription for it, although I would still check with your vet before starting it.
I’m telling you about glucosamine to let you know you have options. Some of you may have an old dog that gimps and you’re just chalkin’ it up to old age. Don’t. Laverne is pretty young to already have this condition but since I noticed and we’re already rollin’ with it, it should make things easier for her when it progresses with age. Glucosamine covers such a wide range of problems and I think people should know about it.
Here’s a list of places to get it! It’s a little on the pricey side but well worth the benefits. I tried to find you the best prices though!
