My name is Katie, I’m 20 years old, I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and I am so grateful I get to live in such a beautiful state! I love to hike and explore the Rocky Mountains and everything else Colorado has to offer.
I am dorky, quirky, and sometimes just weird. I am also sometimes a raging blonde.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t use my fare share of profanities, but I promise I will do my best to refrain from using these words as the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. However, you can consider this a disclaimer!
I graduated from high school May of 2013 and as of right now I don’t intend on going to college. I did however go to Warren Tech, which is a vocational school ran by Red Rocks Community College. I got a ton of college credits, so I guess in a sense I have gone to college. I went there for two years, one year for esthetics (waxing, facials, etc.) and another year for hairstyling. Although I did get a lot of life experience there, I ultimately decided that cosmetology just isn’t for me.
In the mean time, I went to Foothills Animal Shelter almost everyday during my lunch hour because it’s right next to Warren Tech. I didn’t actually volunteer there because I couldn’t fit in my schedule, but a friend and I went just to give the animals some well-deserved attention.
I’m pretty sure the employees thought we were crazy. This routine made me come to the realization that dogs are my passion!... This is something I probably should have been able to conclude years ago but c’est la vie!
Ok I realize that was not really a briefer, but honestly how does someone actually briefly explain themselves? They don’t. That’s how.
I guess next it’d be a good idea to tell you about my experience with dogs, aside from stalking the Foothills Animal Shelter of course. For starters I SERIOUSLY LOVE THEM. I’ve had dogs my entire life including Maggie, a German Shepard/ Border Collie mix, Sargent, a Miniature Poodle mix, Georgia, an Australian Shepard mix (we really like our mutts…) and my current babies Petie, a Bichon, and Laverne, a Bearded Collie Terrier mix. Don’t even get me started on all of my aunt’s and uncle’s dogs, we will seriously be here for a century.
For the past year I have been dog sitting for my client’s in their homes while they are out of town, and it’s the best job ever! I mean seriously? I get paid for snuggling with dogs and taking them on adventures?? It’s kind of insane. I've been considering going to school to become a dog trainer. But for now I am just slowly directing my main focus towards the blog.
Now I think it’s finally time to tell you about the blog. In a nutshell I guess it’s about places your dogs would like to go with you, but really it’s SO much more than that! Your dogs don’t have much control over how they get to spend their life so it’s up to you, and you alone, to ensure that the short time they have here is epic!
Mine and my pooches’ job? Go explore all the dog friendly hikes, walks, dog parks, city parks, state parks, campgrounds, hotels, basically anything and everything in Colorado (and hopefully more places as this blog expands). Then I’ll tell you all about them so you know what suites you and your furry friends the best.
I also want to include reviews on other things like leashes, harnesses, toys, pretty much everything your dog uses. There will be breed of the month (talking about traits and quirks that may help you understand your dog better), events for dogs, a donation center for shelters and charities, traveling tips, dog friendly employers, dog friendly establishments, great vets and groomers (and things of that nature), a place for readers to post questions that either I or other readers can answer. Seriously you guys, its all gonna be here! These are all things that we either currently have or will hopefully have in the near future.
I am by no means a professional vet, trainer or anything of that sort and am most certainly not a writer. I am simply a loving dog mom who loves her own opinion and wants to give you unbiased, real life, advice from my life experiences to make you and your dog's life an exciting, carefree one.
This is a brand new blog so bear with me while I work out the kinks and get it up and running. Thanks for reading and I can’t wait for you guys to go on this adventure with me.
