Every time I see another Bichon that’s not Petie I immediately notice how white and well groomed their fur is. Petie is never that well manicured and fresh looking and I don’t freaking get it. It’s not like I don’t bathe her or brush her. Yet despite my attempts at making her look like she actually has owners that give a damn about her, her fur still always looks wirey yellowey and just plane crazy like she was just found off the streets.
Maybe it’s because she was the runt of the litter or maybe it’s simply because although she is a froofy breed she’s not a froofy dog. She goes on hikes and loves rolling around in dirt. Regardless of the fact that my attempts are quite often futile I am still always on the hunt for a good shampoo that will help the cause. So I am here today to share a review on the last shampoo we gave a shot.
Being someone who once had white hair I frequently needed to use shampoo that cut out yellow tones as well and those always had a deep purple shade so it felt like it’d be pretty comparable to the people ones I used to use so feeling optimistic I bought it.
Here are my thoughts. The smell is fine, it’s more of a classic soapy perfumey smell than a fruity smell which didn’t stick around after the wash anyway so the smell doesn’t really matter. (I should specify, she did smell better than before the bath she just didn’t smell like the shampoo.) It lathered fine, it didn’t seem to bother her skin, it broke down the dirt pretty well. You know, it did shampoo stuff which is always a win in itself I suppose.
But the true test was weather it helped with her yellow fur to which I say, you be the judge.
As for how long the whiteness lasted I can’t give you an accurate answer as she promptly went and rolled around in dirt immediately after I dried her. (Insert infinite flat faces.)
I got it from TJMaxx for $5.99, you could check a TJMaxx by you for it but their stock is pretty random so there’s not guarantee it’ll be there. The only place I could find it online was on Amazon for $15.99. Bummer on the higher price.
So there it is, a decent shampoo but nothing mind blowing.
